Being a parish councillor is hardly a challenging role and only demands a few hours a month.
I wish you would all stop picking on Vic. He is a decent bloke who is passionate about Dover. You may not agree with his politics or his stance on the port (I don't), but he does not deserve the bullying he gets on here.

rather a strange post i have not seen any bullying here, i would delete anything that fitted the bill if paul had not seen it first.
Point taken. I disagree with Vic and frankly often find his attitude irritating, but he simply loves Dover, is so lacking in malice, and seems to genuinely care. What's not to like!?

This isn't a case of bullying. No one is questioning his decency or passion but one is questioning his motives for what appears to be his endless aim to seek publicity,get in on act,be in all the photos, question why he is not on the forums list of who's who etc etc.

Howard there's no overt aggressive bullying but Alexander Pope had it taped:
Damn with faint praise, assent with civil leer, And without sneering, teach the rest to sneer; Willing to wound, and yet afraid to strike, Just hint a fault, and hesitate dislike.

I do not think Vic has been bullied but he does leave himself open to criticism mainly because he tends to say something and then does the opposite. When you put yourself in the public eye you have to expect both good and bad comments, justified or not.
I think with Peter always in his corner Vic can easily cope with those of us who sometime criticise but occasionally also praise.

*ollocks. Where I came from it's called straight talking as you see it without necessarily thinking you're right all the time.

Ok so here's another quote which seems to fit Vic:
A man so various, that he seem'd to be
Not one, but all mankind's epitome;
Stiff in opinions, always in the wrong,
Was everything by starts, and nothing long;
But in the course of one revolving moon
Was chymist, fiddler, statesman, and buffoon.
John Dryden.

You go for it Vic. As they are two of the best examples of programmes I avoid like the plague I will not be watching.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

i hope that the parsih cllrs tht may look in heed peters words that there is little work in what they do
im sure thats not the case.
as for vic, hes a grand guy, mine has always been advice as a friend in the hope of his success instead of spreading himself to thinly, and also distancing himself from people, many who would(or may) vote for him.
