  Interestingly enough Howard, I made the same comment at the Community Safety Day in Pencester Gardens last year to the crewman from the Kent Air Ambulance who also of course rely on collections and donations for the excellent service that they provide for the community.
  
  His reply was that they preferrd to keep their charity status as to be centrally or government funded would mean box ticking and targets - the way they are they were free to run the service how they like - for the people.
