Totally agree Howard, derisory sentences indeed. I even doubt actually that these low life thugs will even be kept inside for as long as 15 months.

To a certain extent Helen is also correct though when she says that " Criminals have avoided jail for worse", but this just simply highlights once again our totally useless and inept justice system. Whatever government of the day is in office this disgraceful situation has been the case for many years now. We all know that prison is not a deterrent to the type of people such as those mentioned above, merely an inconvenience I would suspect. This has to change and it`s about time that going to jail was something to be feared and on release not somewhere that you would wish to return to in a hurry.

Without particularly wishing to turn this into a political discussion, I know that UKIP would be committed to building more prisons and actually give our public the protection and justice they deserve from anti social thugs and other criminals etc. And yes, we can afford it by drastically cutting foreign aid etc., and throwing away millions at the EU for starters.

However, nothing will change unfortunately until we have a complete change in the type of government that presides over us.
