This morning when I was doing my daily rounds walking the dogs. I noticed that there are 12 caravans and vans in the bottom field in Astor school.
My lad told me someone knocked his door and was looking to move some 42" tellys for £100. Do they work ? ' O ' they are £200. He thinks they are from the field asking around. So be careful.

You,ll be sure they are top quality of course.Like the ones they was flogging years ago before flat screens came in.I know someone who brought one, nothing happened when he plugged it in and on further inspection there was no insides to it,just a house brick taped down in the back to give it some weight.

Some years back a bloke was flogging laptops out of the boot of his car for £.20, believe it or not some people did buy them only to find when they got home the box was filled with rubbish that weighed similar to a lap top. Someone had the cheek to report it to the police.

I thought that the police could move them on if there was more than six vehicles on the land, when i passed by this evening there was more than six cars and trucks on the field.

Just reading up on the laws regarding travellers on private land and its almost as if they have more laws on their side than the landowners themselves.Unbelievable !!

A few years back a group of travellers set up on a tyre fitters forecourt in Gravesend, it took nearly a month to legally remove them, the business had to shut for the whole time as vehicles couldn't access the workshop.
Who says are laws are a joke!!!

I remember a gamekeepers solution to some travellers who moved onto his boss's land. He gave them an advance warning that the following day he would be moving a load of large tree trunks onto the entrance of the field which would completely block them in, they were gone by next morning.

The land is privately owned apparently the school has leased in the past but not used by them currently.

Apparently about 5 of them are in the town centre trying to flog dodgy perfume to the gullible.

All these mentions of our pikey friends reminds me of a spoof West Ham United press release prior to a home game with Millwall some years ago. Went as follows "Patrons coming to the match by car are advised to set out earlier as visiting supporters are expected to take up many parking spaces with their caravans".

The worst is if they leave rubbish.I can remember a few years back when a load of them set up camp behind the boys grammer school on the rough track which leads to the Whinless downs. When they eventually left there was piles of rubbish including smashed up caravans, rubble, loads of household rubbish and worst of all, piles of human s**t everywhere. It took council contractors a long time to clean it all up.The whole area was a health hazard.

At least they put it in bags, not that it will stay in bags for long if the seagulls get there.Too much trouble for them to take it to the tip, just expect everyone else to clean up after them.Bet they wont get fined for littering.

So the residents of Whitfield will now be able to enjoy the bargain goods that will be on offer, the tellys, the perfume etc etc.
