Well done the Transport Museum for bringing it to Dover- even if it is only for 1 week-end.
Hope they get lots of people there, who will also find out of course, about the Museum too.
Roger.

Trawled through the archives and found the plane, almost certain it is anyway... have added a super picture to the frontpage just now. It is actually from a collection given to us by Pauli Watkins himself. Paul and Philippe Blet from Calais are in the picture too...see frontpage.
Well done with them shots above Howard.

Yes this whole Transport Museum weekend was very last minute, info just came in yesterday, but we are happy to help out and happy to get the message out as best we can. Good luck to them.

More info on the frontpage.

Just come back to add another picture from the same collection see the other one on the frontpage...also helping to bump the thread up too so that guys wont miss it if they want something to see this weekend. Once again more info on frontpage..
An amusing pleasant picture here...thats one heck of a cake below, baked to mark the big event, the anniversary of the Bleriot flight just a short year or two ago, and yes thats Pauli Watkins with knife in hand or almost but has he just cut Monsieur Blet's finger instead of the cake?? ...oh dear...ah perhaps not. Msr Blet is just enjoying a nibble on the cake.

One of the Bleriot XI replicas being dismantled at the Duke of Yorks after being flown over from France by Mikhael Carlssen for the Bleriot centenary.

This is a Bleriot (no doubt the same one), which the Early Birds Foundation have in Holland, when it flew over (to Waldershare airfield) for the de Lesseps Centenary.

That is exactly like the one at the Transport Museum.
Jean and I have just been up there to see the plane - it is truly amazing being up close and personal with such a fragile-looking plane and thinking it few across the Channel.
Hardly anyone there, so if you can, please do go and see it - well worth it.

We also went this afternoon, what a lot of interesting things they have now, well worth the visit. We will go again soon. Your ticket lasts a whole year too, not just for today.

As an aside, in your post number 15 Kath. I created a "Passport to Leisure" some years ago, where people bought a season ticket to see all of our attractions (apart from Dover Castle as EH have their own annual season ticket); I had spoken to them all, even created a formula so that each attraction would get back, a fair proportion of their money at the end and it would have created a lot more visitors for each and every site.
It was costed and evaluated and everything was in place - the Town Council were to administer the bank account, but (sadly) it didn't get official approval (it didn't need any money, just moral support), so it didn't go anywhere.
The top photo in Howard's post number 16, shows the Home Front Bus, this is a marvellous old (1960s) double decker that used to be in service round Dover, now it has been fitted out showing what life was like during the 1940s/war-time era.
The owner wanted to bring it to the Market Square, which would have been a great draw to get people here and then they would go into the various cafes and pubs, shops too of course - the Museum, and round the corner, the Roman Painted House.
Everyone in that area would have benefitted by its presence, but the owner met with such negativity, so many hoops he had to jump through, obstacles to jump over - and the high cost - so he went to Canterbury where they welcomed him with open arms.
Anyway, back to the Transport Museum - if you can find the time, please do go there today; the entry fee is tiny compared to the opportunity to see this plane and all it represented, leading to today's aeroplanes. A brave woman Harriet Quimby indeed.

Roger - I think season tickets are an excellent idea and would boost numbers of visitors.
