Hello everybody, just to keep you up to date with where we are.
We are re-submitting our bid and video which must be in by this friday 29th, we decided to tweak them both a little bit so lets hope its a case of second time lucky.
The Town Council, DDC, Chamber of Commerce, Dover Society and numerous other local businesses and organisations are fully behind the bid and the plans we have, if you have any ideas or suggestions we're very keen to hear them.

Good luck with the new bid, I would suggest more focus on the future and less on the past but maybe that is what you have tweaked.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan, when we did the first bid we were told the video must last no more than 3 minutes and not be professionally made, we followed those instructions only to discover most of the winners were 5 minutes or so. But you are right, we dwelt too much on the heritage of the town; this time Paul Watkins, Barry Williams and others have kindly agreed to help out and we're dealing more with our plans for the future.

Are you using any of the innovative ideas in the Tourism Strategy, or the Plan of Action for Dover Town, or the Street-Market information I sent you all, David ?
Every email I have sent to members of the Town Team or Town Council have been ignored - why would that be David ?
Good Luck with it though.

Good morning Roger, yes we have seen the documents and they contain very useful information which has helped to form a strategy for the bid. We have held meetings with lots of organisations and their input is gratefully received, the team is still very much in its infancy and developing, its a case of collating information and deciding which is most pertinent to the bid.
As was the case when we first applied, its difficult to form a definite plan until or unless we know whether we have the money, after this next stage I guess we'll know where we stand and will act accordingly.
I'm not personally aware of any emails sent to the Town Team and of course cant answer for the Town Council.
Thanks as usual for your input, via this forum I'll keep you up to speed with progress

David, I thought that the first film was a good one, but this one is really good. I like the 'your probably one of the 14 million...' Not so sure about the shots where the speaker is not addressing us the viewers directly through the camera but is filmed from the side. However, I'm no film director. Wishing the Town Team every success.

The desire to commend all those involved for a thoroughly well done overhaul of the original attempt to attract this public funding to aid in the regeneration of Dover town grew and grew within me, right up to the point where the old dire footage of the local MP was re-included.
I hope that those who view this video, and who have a say in it's success, have their minds made-up before being reminded of the wrong-footed comments from CE.
A real leap forward, my congratulations to all those involved.

Colin Spicer is a genius film-maker, he produced the 2-DVD set of Bygone Tilmanstone (village history) several years ago (copies still available), got a club award for his work, and sales have raised over £1,000 for Tilmanstone village hall and church.
