that must have been a worry alex, you could have ended up with the paint the wrong way up.
hope it wasn't the striped paint.

Worthington Street was not out, or at least the power was back on within minutes. I was on my mobile at the time in the HSBC and it knocked out the phone completely. No idea how that happens.

Probably because the masts on Burlington House went dead Andrew!

i do hope that you were not using your mobile at the counter andrew.
There was another brief cut about 3.30 am. Didn't last too long though.

Heaven forfend, Howard. That would be most improper.
The knocking out of the mast on its Burllington House plinth would explain the sudden loss of signal, but not the sudden powering off, unless some auto shutdown mechanism was triggered.
Perhaps there was some atmospheric disturbance which triggered the cut.

Surely the equipment in Burlington House has backup power doesn't it. The same with Virgin cabinets, I know the new BT ones have battery backup.

At home ours went out for a second and only effected the answer phone. Apparently at work all the computers went dead, as well as the phone system. Haven't had a power cut in years. I'll stock up on candles just in case

I think we are all guinea pigs in the middle of an experiment for which they have forgotten to set up a control group!

the fault was in the underground network in the cambridge terrace area.
