The tram shelter on the junction of Elms vale, and Folkestone Roads is forever having the windows smashed, and graffitti all over the windows.
The cost to replace the windows is hefty.
Why do these mindless vandals do it????????????????????????????????????????????

this issue came up about 7 years, to my mind it is in the wrong place.

I don't think trams could have made it up to Connaught Park Howard.

there is no will locally to anything about this sort of behaviour, much cheaper and better to tart it up send it to connaught park and put a sign on it to say that it is an original tudor open air khazi.
could bring in the tourists.
Keith its all over the place im sure local yobs dont just damage royal elms vale

Anything suffering such regular vandalism should be watched more carefully - with appropriate cameras to catch those responsible and deal with them in a more severe way. This is one place where cameras could be very useful.

close to the elms vale roundabout there is a pelican crossing with a camera where cars and bikes regularly jump the red light.
there are cameras near to where most vandalism happens, no action seems to be taken.
Keith you are correct it is mindless vandalism.
This former tram shelter is in fact a GradeII listed building (the same classification as the Grand Shaft stairs).
Wearing my Dover Society hat (Acting Chair of Planning committee) I have to-day reported the damage and grafitti that is on the building to both DDC Planning and Anti-Social unit.
As it seems to be a regularly targetted building I would hope that the local police ensure it is on their list to keep an eye on.

In your position as a PCSO couldn't you influence the powers that be to install cctv's?

Agree but they could act as a deterrent .We shouldn't give up hope so quickly.

i can assure that they don't marek, in most cases it attracts them, they can just amend the wearing of baseball cap and hoodie top.
in the cases where there is no attempt at disguise we are told that the pictures are too grainy.

As far as I am aware this has not been the target of constant vandalism over several years.
I mostly drive rather than walk I must admit (time reasons rather than being lazy), but I hadn't noticed any damage to it recently, but will takle a look today. It had all the seats taken out some time ago to deter people from hanging aound in there.
There was a spate a few years ago where the windows were being broken regularly, but not all the time, until recently - as posted on here.
I'll take a look.
