    No, it is not new.

It was started years ago when we lost our village shop (soon after Tescos at Whitfield opened), the raffle at the market has raised a great deal of money over the years, for the village hall maintenance and improvement, and sale of refreshments and 20p entrance monies towards a variety of other village amenities.

In the summer we take some plants sometimes, and Bob takes boxes of spare old photographs of Tilmanstone and nearby villages, and Dover, for sale at about £1 each. I sometimes take patchwork items to sell, and there are hand made knitted items, and sometimes home spun knitting wool. Home made cakes by two of our stallholders, one makes bread also, greeting cards, and we catch up with news and general chat. A small intimate market for a small community.

We are always pleased to see visitors.
At present we are looking for people with spare vegetables and fruit they have grown to come along and sell -
