I have waited for Clare to get a good head start on her fund raising,and just a note to let you know I am walking Newcastle to Carlisle starting on April 21st a total of 65 miles via Hadrian's Wall.
I usually do it for Charity and this year I am doing it for a local group in Dover and Deal called the Young Balancers Club.The Group is for children with Diabetis which is a growing problem.We all know someone with Diabetis my Mum my Brother My Dad and My Grandmother had/have it.But these children have to inject themselves 4+ times a day.There lives depend on those injection as they are type 1.
Everything they do they have to think about,and I am sure that injecting themselves at School leads to some name calling.
Why am I doing it for the YBC well one of my walking friends son died at 16 with Diabetis and you can imagine what that was like and even 3 years later she is haunted by this and blames herself.The YBC have days out and social evenings and I am working with them to have a American Supper type evening using the youngsters from the show.
As I said we all know someone with Diabetis and we usually expect it to be someone older,but these Children may have had it from a very early age and will be injecting themselves for the rest of thier lives.It is a very small club and very local and if anyone would like to help me raise a little money for them please e mail me on
