Call me old fashioned but to see such a crass statement as knowing when to doff my cap fills me with anger. The only time I have ever been subserviant was when I was in the army,but not by choice but because it was convenient,not out of any respect for those above me.
I respect other people for there worth not for there birth right but I suppose if you were born without those qualities then I must make allowances for you. He is also clearly very comfortable with his place in society and doesn't feel the need for childish demonstrations of equality. He KNOWS he is as good as any other man.

You are quite correct in your analysis that I am loosing the plot. I did not mean to insult you personally, but I suppose it is born out of a sense of frustation knowing full well that these people will continue to cheat and lie. the irony is that he (David Laws) managed to keep his secret until after the election, when his constituants could have passed judgement on his behaviour.
I apologize once again for my behaviour and trust that metaphorically speaking we can be friends but possibly rivals when the need arises.
