Jimmy, bailing out the Irish certainly goes against the grain.
After all they are the ones who gave up their right to run their own economy by joining the Euro and they have been living the high life on EU dosh. This whole mess would also not be nearly so bad if they had not jumped on the big spending bandwagon as well.
But - it would be self-defeating not to provide the loan they currently need and help out, we would be damaged economically by their collapse.
However, that said it will only be a sticking plaster unless they make more fundamental reforms for the long term. The break up of the Euro would be a start.
