This press release is just in...
the info may already have been on another thread but just in case it hasnt here is the news

COWAN NAMES HIS SHADOW TEAM
KCC Labour Leader Gordon Cowan (Dover Town) pictured below, has released details of his Shadow Cabinet Team:
Gordon says:
"Labour has a unique and profound responsibility to act as a critical opposition to the Tory administration on KCC. We accept that UKIP are the official opposition but a party that belongs to the right of the ruling Conservatives cannot offer the kind of objective criticism that the ordinary people of Kent need.
"I am lucky to have a strong team, with lots of experience and talent.
"As Leader I will also lead on Education where we need to ask some searching questions about the shambles over selection in West Kent and the failure to plan properly for primary school places right across the county.
"My Deputy,
Roger Truelove (Swale Central), will lead on Economic Development. He believes that Kent desperately needs a realistic strategy for economic growth and good jobs.
"
Mike Eddy (Deal) pictured above will be leading for us on Health at a time when the NHS is being put at grave risk by the Coalition's ill thought out "reforms". As he has before,
Derek Smyth (Ashford South) will be our lead on finance.
"
Jane Cribbon (Gravesham East) will lead on Social Care, where cuts to elderly care will continue to be a key issue for Labour, and
Colin Caller (also Gravesham East) will be our Shadow Spokesman on Environment and Highways, where under-performance by the County Council continues to be a major issue with residents right across Kent.
"Finally
Tom Maddison (Dartford NE) will be Group Whip and our Spokesman on Communities."

Surely the official opposition at County is now UKIP with 17 seats against Labour's 13? I thought we could only have one shadow cabinet?

Zilch is the answer. They are not even the main opposition party, UKIP are.
Actually that would be great for the country, A Conservative Government with UKIP as HM Official Opposition with Labour demoted to third or fourth party irrelevance... I suppose we can dream of a right/righter essentially two party choice at elections.

david not yet accepted the conservative is a right wing party so still some way to go there.
There will always thankfully be the conservative/labour ding dong unlikely to change
And then a number of protest parties such as UKIP

Yeah thats right Keith, a party that forces through a gay marriage bill is very right wing.
You'll be telling me next that the labour party are socialists. It seems Keith that you are stuck in the 1920s.
The lot of them are namby pamby and useless, only the tribal monkeys vote labour or tory

Barry, I sympathise with your wishes in #5, but I would like to see far more independent MPs working for their constituency.
Of the 650 (far too many) I'd like a ruling party of about 250, 250 other "main" parties and 150 or so independents. Only then would we return to some sort of democracy.
The whip system is the ruination of the country, that and career politicians.

Barry is more than capable of speaking for himself, I'd be amazed if he's offended by what I've written.
He knows Cameron is useless, he is loyal to his party but is desperate for change, only triballists would vote for Cameron.

Keith - The Conservative Party is right of centre and I am to the right of the Conservative Party. The real big damage to all of our futures is from idiotic left wing governments and that means Labour.
Yes David they are left wing which is not necessarily the same as socialist but socialism is still the defining ideology of that party even if they have had to side-step it a bit for electoral reasons. This is why they are unfit for government.
Personally I am much more in tune with UKIP policies but the Conservatives remain and will remain the best hope for a centre right government and it is far better to be in and to influence the policies than out. A fragmentation of the right is a dream for Labour and will only get those morons into government. The country, specially the poor, cannot afford a Labour government and its crazy tax/spending driving out businesses, tax revenues and jobs.

Morons is a good description of Labour politicians Howard.
You need only look at those terrible years of them in power and the economic vandalism their caused the UK economy. There is just no other suitable word for it. Labour sympathisers may think it nasty, so what? It is far nastier to spend and tax the economy into its deepest and longest recession as Labour did. A government that exercised spending restraint and balanced the deficit in the growth phase would have prevented a lot of the problems we have now.

Morons? perhaps they are not of your superior intellect unrivalled financial acumen and dare I say it arrogance but Morons because they have different political views than yourself is a bit strong even for you?
Moron (psychology), disused term for a person with a mental age between 8 and 12, and a common insult for a person considered stupid (or just a generic insult)

MartinP , Are you revealing some sort of inferiority complex? No-one claim superiority but one thing is for sure, anyone who contemplates voting Labour has some serious screws loose.
Keith - my disgust and contempt for Labour is fully justified by their record and I will always address them how they deserve.

I think we have been here a number of times, and its a little sad you write the way you do, just because some posters may be of a different to yourself.
But certainly these others do not give off a 'I know best' but preferred to reply.
I dont have to much time for David the mouse, but respect those that do
