22:2541262Did you know that, on average, women use 15,000 words a day while men use 7,000?
Women took about twice as long as men to end their online instant messenging conversations in a 2003 study of US university students.
The study, which was published in the Journal of Language and Social Psychology, also found that women were much more likely to use emoticons (representations of emotions using punctuation marks).
The most popular emoticon was the smiley face :- )

09:4841268Yes I can confirm that ColetteB is the master of the long goodbye. No matter where you go she takes an hour to say goodbye. So if you decide to leave somewhere at 8.30 you have to allow til 9.30 for your departure time GRRRR!!!
Also one can clearly see for example the difference between men and wimmin when it comes to mobile phone use. The phone is permanently stuck in the female hand when they walk from a to b and almost permanently in the ear thru lunch. How did they manage before mobile phones? I dunno.. BB herself would pine with heart abroken if someone confiscated this metal toy. Life would cease to have any meaning. The inventor of the humble text has a lot to answer for.
However differences can sometimes be good..even pleasant. The fact that Cheryl Cole is now available and back on the market, gives us all hope that with a bit of luck and a strong tail wind, we might wash up on a desert island with her one day soon..having just rescued her from a shipwreck and she being eternally grateful...
"Is there anything I can do for you Paul??
ah well not right now Cheryl..Im counting me coconuts!"

21:0441318But there's something about that Geordie accent too Barry. Way eye man, it'll do for me.

22:0641322As a woman, I wonder out loud about the idiocy of men. Not you, Sid, or you Barry - but that plank Cole, married to a gorgeous successful wife he still has to prove his "man"hood with other floozies. Airhead or what?

08:4941339I wouldn't normally engage in this kind of discussion but I find the whole Cole thing ridiculous.
First of all I wouldn't be able to put up with Cheryl as she clearly has poor taste in music...this is very important. I find the whole obsession with these vacuous individuals bizzare. Why is she famous? Obviously not down to vocal ability.
As for 'Mr and Mrs Cole': accusations of being gay and the other accused of a racial attack; a shared agent/publicist; it all seems a little too convenient to me...call me a cynic.

10:5341343Honestly, I agree - I wouldn't even know who she was if the kids didn't watch that ghastly programme with Simon Cowell, talent contest thingy. I just get equally exasperated when men think so obviously with their blood instead of their brains!!!

12:2341350Nice of you to condescend and take part DT1, thanks.
I'm not sure what her taste in music has got to do with marital relations. My musical taste is very different to my wife's, and despite our fair share of disputes in our married life, musical taste has had nothing to do with any of them.
Of course, we are all assuming Cheryl is the innocent party, but very few men stray from the nest naturally. There is often an underlying reason. Maybe she has a problem with snoring, is a noisy eater, breaks wind at inopportune moments, never stops talking about herself, is selfish, we don't know.
Of course we might just be seeing yet another overpaid brainless sportsperson in action
Nevertheless, she is, to some of us, a stunning piece of eye candy and most blokes enjoy eye candy.

13:5741356No problem Sid, anytime.
Taste in music has as just as much to do with marital relations as what she looks like or what accent she has. Personally I've never had an argument based on these criteria, but perhaps some people do to fill the void left by musical arguments. I'd rather be disagreeing about an album, or getting excited about a musical discovery, than deciding on the which shade of beige to paint the hallway or who's going to put the rubbish out.
Cheryl is a 'role model' to many young people and this is sad. She has no interest in music, just celebrity and the product of a TV show concerned with image rather than substance...as I say vacuous.

23:2741404a cultural icon dt.
i was reading an article in a newspaper the other day about our footballer celebrities and their ladies.
it pointed out that they were assigned to football clubs very early, well before they could get involved in education, this makes them enable to communicate at a normal adult level.
it was not being insulting just pointing out how difficult it is to suddenly earn enough at the age of 20 to be able to move next door to the likes of posh barry and colette.
david beckham for example is actually a good example to our nations youth, despite the tramp stamps etc and the monosyllabic style.
his work ethic at all of the clubs he has represented has been first class and has also had a settled private life.
