  Liam was a very capable Minister who did a good job at the MoD and has done a lot to improve things like procurement. He fought a hard battle to protect as much of the Defence budget as he could and without him the MoD would have been hit a lot harder. He made some tough but necessary choices. He is not guilty of any kind of personal financial irregularities and his integrity is intact. He did make some mistakes but was guilty more of loyalty to friends than anything else. Liam is a good man and I am sure he will return to the political front-line as we have seen Ministers do who have been guilty of far, far worse things than his errors.
