  Liam is a long-standing 'Atlanticist' who's views are very much in line with those people you mention (as indeed are my own) so they do not exactly stand to gain from lobbying him as such activities would normally be done to persuade someone to their cause.
  
  I certainly hope that Cameron does not make any rash decisions to sack Liam and bow down to the lowest common denominator muck raking nonsense.
