Hi,
Does anyone have any information on the abandoned allotments on Shakespeare Cliff and Aycliffe? Does anyone know who manages the site or if it's still possible to lease a plot?

Try Dover Town Council. Legally they have responsibility for Allotments.

Iwas the Town council Allotment officer years ago, but think you fine that they are not safe anymore only a small path to use by the cliff edge,When I was looking after the allotments they are the only ones I never went to I do not even if they were the town council ones. I do not think they were or I would have know about them.

Hi all,
Thank You for your replies. I will contact the council but they don't seem to manage this site according to the website. I assumed it was a private allotments maybe connected to the Aycliffe estate.
I'm guessing they're not really used because of difficult access and no water supply. A couple of the plots seem in use but most of them have been abandoned.

As I said sir I do not think they are safe anymore and after all the rain we get now does not help the cliff might have more breaks and it might all disappear .

As far as i can remember most were in use before the a20 came through, most who had them have probably long past away or now too old to attend them,up to a few years ago there was a few homeless people living in the sheds up there. If you,re looking for a plot i think the town council still manage Prospect place off Coombe valley, friend of mine has one there and wasnt on the waiting list for long.Shatterlocks also worth a look.
