...to our Remembrance Day Concert.....
I though it was a great evening.
We did have a few problems due largely to performers arriving from all over Kent many after having to finish work or other Armistice Day events. While we did all we could to prepare as much as early as possible everyone needed for the Finale were not gathered together by 6.30, the buglers from the DofYRMS and the Sea Cadets had not played together and needed to practise, some standard bearers had only just got there and all their timings had to be finalised for what was the most important and complex bit of the evening that had to be minute perfect. One of the Clovers was delayed getting down from London and did not arrive until 7.05 and in the end had to go one without her sound checks, not that you would have noticed, Andrew Martyn on sound and lights was brilliant, a real star.
Anyway with people arriving kit being hustled around we had to keep areas clear and people had to wait outside until 7pm and even then could not go into the main hall until 5-10 minutes later.
I went outside to apologise and invite people in but it didn't work that way as I has someone shouting at me as soon as I went to the door... no doubt someone who has never had to deal with the organisation of such a thing before...
There were a few more things that if we were doing it again we would tweak and alter but overall the performers were great and the remembrance went off well though there was a rather intoxicated lady who shouted bless them at the start of the silence then cried....
Another rather drunk lady (might have been the same one, but we had two if them!) unfortunately fell over on the steps as she was leaving and an ambulance was called. Hope she is OK.
Anyway - quite a few people asked us to do it again. What do you think? No promises, it was a massive amount of work but doing something for a second time is always easier and we have the contacts needed for it now.
Your honest opinions please....
One further thing.... I have plenty of programmes left. If anyone would like one as a souvenir or just to see what happened they can be collected for a donation of your choice towards the RBL from my office. One the night they were sold for £2.50 and is a quality publication.

A superb evening Barry it went really well. The Swing Time Sweethearts as always were fantastic, and the Clover Sisters were good. The performance of Codie on the piano was utterly fantastic such talent should not go unnoticed, Thank you for a smashing night out, can we do it again next year.

Glad it went off well Barry, but sorry to hear about the unnecessary heckling you had to put up with.
So sorry we couldn't attend, hope my brother enjoyed his evening on our tickets.
Because we missed it, I'd say yes please do it again.

Well done Barry.
We were desperately sorry not to be able to be there, but were over in Bury St Edmunds, having installed the Unknown Warrior exhibition in the cathedral there. But we were certainly thinking of you and hoping all was going well! It was a massive thing to take on and do, and well done for marking the very special day this way.
Would you like to save a programme for us, please? I can pick it up next time we're in Dover or you could pass it to my brother, if that's easier.
Any more photos? Love to see them!

Will do Maggie.
I only had my phone and that was all the room I had, there were a couple I deleted because they were blurred. The official photographer we arranged backed out at the last minute.

Thanks, Barry.
What a shame about the official photographer but thank goodness then you managed to get some pictures, and with everything else going on too! If we could only have been there, Simon would willingly have taken loads for you. But maybe you'll hear that someone else managed a couple of shots too, which'd be good.
Barry, it looks fab. I am sorry not to have been able to attend but I would love another opportunity, especially as it looks so good. Well done to all concerned.

Yes mywife and myself was standing next to the person who was shouting about outside and in, I was very close to telling him to shut up,(I must be geting old") years ago I would have done soming about it. Back to the show, it went off very well and we both had agood time ,we went to Blakes after, just as we got there Peter was asking some one to go,the person was well over the top with drinking.

Sorry the photos are not very good but I left my main camera at work. being stuck behind the stage and organising I never had the chance to do much photography.
Kasey had a whale of a time marching up and down with the arm cadets and learning to salute.
Sorry to say it but the old git that did the complaining was well out of order and if I'd have had my way he would have been out on his arse.
Well done to all concerned and a massive THANK YOU to all of the Cadet forces.

who would have thought that anyone would misbehave at such an event?
between them they must have coughed up 25 quid just to make fools of themselves.
you don't have security for something like that.
