The photographs were taken at 9am this morning so probably a bit early for most to be on the beach. I can assure you there are plenty of people there now!
My advice for a family and two children visiting Dover would be (in no particular order) Dover Castle, Dover museum, Dover transport museum, Kearnsey Abbey, Russell Gardens, Bushy Ruff, Connaught Park, Dover beach, Langdon Cliffs, Western Heights. In addition to the hotel bars, there is Cullins Yard and the Hythe Bay Fish Restaurant which has a bar with wonderful views across the harbour.
I'm just thinking town here - the wider district has even more things to do and places to see if you include Deal, Sandwich and wider East Kent. We have lots to offer but I think the "packaging" has never been quite right. There is certainly a need for more family friendly accommodation and eating places.
Of course, on a lovely summer's day like today you can't beat bring your own - a picinic on the beach. The great thing about Dover beach - no sand in your sandwiches!

I'm one of the Gateway Flats haters. I appreciate though that there's not a lot that can be done about them.
Here's my favourite view of them

I remember a idea quite a few years ago to take out the ground floor to partially open up the views (had a quick search through the internet, but couldn't find any evidence. Before Dover Pride?)

This is the view in the link above showing the opening through from Townwall Street to the seafront communal gardens in the front. I have a nasty feeling that my dear wife and her mates might have been responsible for having the fence installed blocking it off. She tells me that, back in her childhood, she and her fellow urchins used to delight in riding up and down on the lifts and the residents didn't like it one little bit!

brian has responded to the challenge and has sent in these photos taken earlier on his sojourn to our sea front.

My Nan once told me that the Gateway Flats were the most expensive windbreak ever erected!

Beautiful.
The only thing remaining, to really mastering your camera Brian, is setting the time. As for the photos, great work.
