Mark Serwotka was on TV earlier claiming a big national success...up to 400,000 are on strike..sayeth he, the Union Leader with the rapidfire line in chat. Certainly the TV pictures from the air showed impressive marches. The Police were also marching..highly unusual for them to do so, and the prison officers walked out. Neither the Police nor the Prison Officers are allowed to strike.

There was a good turn out early on at the Docks, they later cleared off and left the flags and banners in place, they were equally effective

I approve of most unions and what they are there to do. I disapprove of certain aspects of their activities, especially when they get involved in politics. And I particularly disapprove of the hypocrisy of many union leaders who earn a high multiple of what their members do.
