  I agree completely with you and Bruce, Barry. I am a Eurosceptric though, as you and Bruce are; I'm sure a different view/spin could be put by someone who is a Europhile - I wouldn't believe them though, because ultimately, it cannot work - one size fits all cannot work because all the southern european countries have mainly tourism-related economies and most of the northern ones have manufacturing and tourism is only good for 6 months of the year so they are bound to have weaker overall economies.
  
  The same tax levels and fiscal policies cannot be tied by the same laws, it's simply impossible and resuklts in what we have now - a debacle.
  
  As you say, a short term crisis will be better than a long drawn-out death.

  An interesting development from this.
  
  The last polls in Greece showed the New Democrats (pro-bail-out) party in the lead, (but no further polls are allowed before the election on Sunday). Because they agreed to the Spanish bail-out with no fiscal conditions attached there are signs that anti bail-out Syriza have been given a boost.
  
  They have really shot themselves in the foot and have made a break-up of the Euro more likely, hence early stockmarket gains having been reversed.

  A conservative mp described to the EU parliament this week, the 100 billion Spanish euro bailout, as standing at the North Pole and peeing in to your pants.
  
  All warm at first but after a very short time you fined yourself in a more uncomfortable situation.

  Let's not get too complacent:

  Italy is now a target and Spain is teetering over the edge of the abyss. China has major problems as too has India. We have the highest debt to GDP ratio in the world. There is nothing we can do. It's an unstoppable train. All we can do is hold onto our collective hats and pray.
