It is the first book of the Old Testament.
The Gospel according to St. John, in the first chapter, gives an ulterior account of Genesis, intended as Creation, and thus the New Testament (the Gospel) confirms the description given in the first book of the Old Testament.
However, St. John the Evangelist explains that the Word is Jesus, that God (the Father) created everything in conjunction with His Son, who is The Word.
And elsewhere in the Gospel it is written that Jesus said that he was in Heaven before Adam was on Earth.
The Creationist Faith is confirmed in the New Testament.
Science will not DEMONSTRATE the Faith, the Holy Scriptures are there for this.
Yet science does not in any way give support to the evolution theory, but excludes it categorically.
Also, science can not explain the thought process, or love, or articulate speech, or the soul.
Mankind cannot comprehend Eternity, for we are biologically finite, and our knowledge is limited.
But Mankind cannot cancel Eternity or undo Creation.
Eternity has no beginning, as it has no end.
A day can be as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day.
And each day of a thousand years can be as a thousand years, and so on and again.
Long before the first scientist exclaimed that the sun and moon will pass away, Jesus already said it.
He said the universe (which is biological) will pass away and be replaced with Spiritual Eternity.
But the Church of England gave in to Darwin and apologised to him, notwithstanding Mankind was created in the Likeness of God. Darwin reneged the Faith and chose an error.

The angels in Heaven rejoice for every person who turns to Christ.
I think they weep for every person who loses their way.
Christ is the only Gateway to the Father, he is Salvation. There is no other.

The word CREATED is clearly used in the Holy Scriptures,, and the former Archbishop of Canterbury would have to edit the Gospel in order to accommodate Darwin's theory of evolution from apes and from proto-cells in general.
The evolution theory is much worse than the "world is flat" theory, it is designed to destroy Faith.

Alex, you're free to defend your faith and I'm free to defend science, what you say above is completely wrong.
As for criticism of evolution just on the basis of it being a theory, that is how science works - you postulate a theory, design a null hypothesis to disprove it, and until you can show evidence that the null hypothesis is correct then your theory is accepted - until the next refinement or completely new theory that contradicts it comes along.
