    It's a bit like golf David. I've got nothing per se against it (having been invited to put myself forward for membership a number of times - twice by Special Branch officers!) - merely the sort of person it seems to attract!

    I believe however in transparency and meritocracy, and the idea of joining the local group of petit bourgeois worthies pompously acting out ritualised silly-buggery before smugly sitting down to a second class lunch wallowing in their own superciliousness leaves me cold. I get plenty of opportunity to do that at Fort Whitfield!

    BTW. How's your handicap?
