Brian, one US diplomat and not the whole USA said Britain should remain in the EU.
The Americans are not pressing Britain to remain an EU member.
The UK Government cannot deny us a democratic vote on EU in/out membership, and British Sovereignty has already been given away to foreign parliaments through EU treaties that are unconstitutional.
Royal assent has been given to treaties that go against the oath of coronation.

It's just occurred to me that if we made a full exit from the EU, we could buy proper duty-free goods on the ferries again. Now that would do something for the local economy.

Now that is interesting Peter- it would tip the balance for operating Folkestone/Boulogne too.
