We think this is the best food store in the town and district.
At this time they are having a big make over and it is all looking good but what it costs in food there will cost you up to 3 times the amount at other food outlets and the food you get at Aldi is very good and will even be better when the make over is done which will be in about two weeks time and if you go at times it is packed out so we are not the only ones that think it is good there.
I go down now about 0800hrs in the morning but even then there are a lot in there now.
And the poundsaver is good to we also shop in there it is just as good as poundland but with poundsavers you get a lot more to buy.

I agree Vic, anything we can't get from the independent shops we get from Aldi. Although at the moment, parking is a mare. A short walk away is Craig's shop - Veg for all Seasons, who also do excellent very fresh eggs at a good price.

Lidi are also very good just along the rd about 5miles from me at Hawkage we also go there at times good for parking to.
It is a very big store making its own bread to.All the shops we have been to of late in Dover and about have very good staff with good manners it is a treat to go to them not like a few years ago when you were treated like a number they must do better training now.

Aldi is very good but yes the parking is a nightmare while the building work goes on.According to one of the staff there, they will only lose just one parking space when its finished.

I went into Aldi a few weeks ago and thought it was an absolute night mare and have not been back.
Parking was a joke, then in the shop the Isles are too narrow, Tills not staffed and with lots of people waiting only two tills open. Then you can not put your shopping into bags at the till, not a big problem if you then had room to do it at the place provided without being banged about by people passing with their trolleys.
It may be better when the work is done but until then I will not rush back..

I have not been to Aldi for a while but always found the food good quality and real value for money.
I have to agree with Harry about the tills the queues can be horrendous even though the staff are very good.

I think Aldi is closing soon for a few days so they can complete their make over so get what you need now at the lower cost of some other not all just some food stores.

Aldi reopens tomorrow morning and we will be using the store again each week cost of buying is 25% less then most big stores and what you buy is good so why pay more? just for a name.
As we are O.A.P. now the saving we are making is helping to get us out more in this good weather lets hope it goes on for many weeks.
Lidi is also a very good store with good parking so the big stores need to take notice of all this and get their own costs down to the same as the above stores all this is good for us the public as food is the one of the two top things we pay out for with Gas /and Elec/ being number one on the list and even they are showing a down turn in the cost to us the public .
And we need to thank ourselves because it is the way we are now shopping around to try and save a few bob that has been the turning point to this so keep it up and we will see even more savings coming our way.So pat yourselfs on the back and keep it up.

Even the French have cottoned on to the discount supermarkets, in Calais there's both an Aldi and a Lidl opposite each other in the rue Mollien and a big shiny new Lidl being built beside Cite Europe. We use Aldi in Calais for most of our wine nowadays, it's about 30% cheaper than Carrefour for similar quality wines.

Discount retailers are causing problems to the traditional supermarkets, Sainsbury have just announced 2 quarters of falling sales, Tesco and Morrisons have reported similar falls.

Interesting that while Aldi/Lidl are going great guns at the expense of Sainsbury, Tesco and Morrisons, so are Waitrose.

The big stores need to stop trying to pull the wool over the public eyes,Tesco need to get rid of their reward cards and get back to just selling good food at the lowest cost and all of them need to stop this buy two get the 3rd one free or half the cost.
The stores like Adli and lidi do not do any of that rubbish just good food at the lowest cost and it is paying off .
So take note big stores cut the cost of shopping or you will see even more of the public going over to the smaller ones.

And then they won't be smaller ones for much longer.
