The bigger picture is that by building larger houses people will relocate here and travel by High Speed to London .In turn they will have the spend power and the larger retailers will comeMany people in the Midlands commute to London everyday. My Daughter does this two or three one a week. .

Playing devil's advocate while in London they will use the numerous stores there and will only do food shopping in Dover.
We need a good diversity of shops in Dover which needs the right people in the area to use them hence my catch twenty two comment. With regard to those so far those announced for DTIZ/ St James, I believe they are unlikely to attract extra shoppers from out of Dover and will only be detrimental to the present shopping area.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

At the end of the day businesses locate where they are most confident of getting a big return so there is no chance of Waitrose, Debenhams and the like coming to Dover. Bigger companies can't find large enough units in town so open in Whitfield which takes more custom away from the town centre.

Looks as if we will get the proposed adult gaming centre in the old Santander Bank branch, only one objection since the application was lodged 3 weeks ago.

Sue, when I lived and worked in London I used to shop in my lunch hour.
