I can't believe that DTC or WCCTA couldn't afford the few hundred pounds he was paid for the season.
Roger - 14 July 2012 20:33182895Paul B: Well done to get three blue buses in the same shot. They were on their way to provide the tourist shuttle for the Costa Voyager in the cruise terminal today. Abysmal weather but I am glad to say that many passengers and crew still came ashore to sample the delights of Dover. Obviously I have not been paying attention re Horace, though I thought I saw him in the square recently? I understood that his role had come to a predictable end rather than his being suddenly "sacked", with the visitors info centre being moved to the museum ( but not yet), and the advent of the greeters, though I can't say I've seen much of them yet?? I will seek the truth from WCCTA. Roger I think you are being a little unkind to WCCTA, they spent thousands on Horace over the years, both in the square and sending him on trips to the continent, etc.
- 14 July 2012 20:49182900Nothing to do with the Greeters Terry,in fact I saw Horace when we started the first Dover Greeters,I dont thing DTC paid him.By the way the Barrow that he uses I got for him,when Dover Town Council were having a sort out.If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
- 15 July 2012 05:59182925I wasn't meaning to be harsh with WCCTA Dave, as I know they asked and paid him to take the leaflets to Ostend I believe it was. I was just saying that I thought it wouldn't be money as the reason he was no longer required.
Well done on the barrow for Horace - served him and the Town well.
Roger - 15 July 2012 14:58182976These lovely blue buses are very popular with cruise passengers on PoC cruises. Quite a lot of the passengers know of them already from previous trips and those that don't but have been told about them always ask to be directed to them, they do a splendid job

- 11 September 2012 08:57190816On the cruise liner thread you can see pictures of the two cruise liners in today. They are invariably met by a fleet of buses whisking passengers off elsewhere.
On the left hand side of top shot here you can see fleets of green buses at the rear end of the AIDA Mar. Out of shot to the right there are fleets of other buses servicing the Saga Sapphire.. so was delighted to see this morning.. Dover's very own Blue Bus in there swinging...right in there in the mix...
