It is sad to hear about, but we have no police walking around anymore, no police hut open after 20.00hrs,the policing in Dover is very poor at the best of times, and even when they are in the town, you never see them stoping the bikes, or the drinkers or the litter bugs.

Given the awful state of Dover at times and the percentage of the population who create mischief it seems a no brainer! We clearly need police here!

I walked up through the Town last night at about 11.30pm and the Town was still busy, and there were Police about. We were at the Mayor of Dover's Quiz a very successful and good evening, along with fellow forumites Sheila Amos and Stewart Dimmock.outside St Mary's Hall was a drunk asleep in the Churchyard. He hadnt moved for 2 hours so someone went over and woke him up.He got up staggered around then went for a wee.
The thing is he wasnt a Dover man,he was Polish or Lithuanian, when he left he left something in the Churchyard and we called him back but he said it wasnt his,it was only a bag that he rested his head on.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

the latest is that his condition is life changing as opposed to previously being life threatening.
just have to keep our fingers crossed for him sarah.
Horrible though I may sound , life changing can be worse than life threatening in some circumstances

i did wonder about that term sarah, as you are in the trade could you put some flesh on the bones?
Life changing can mean irreperable damage that impacts on daily living ability ie personality change, memory loss , loss of pysical functions , which can be recovered to some extent but have a permanent effect on the persons ability to function in some area . Poor lad lets hope for some good news , Experts have been wrong

That the two men were being questioned was what I meant Martin, apparently both men are from Dover.
Here is what Paul has put on the front page............
ARRESTS LATEST: UPDATE just in........
Police have arrested two men suspected of assaulting the 15-year-old boy mentioned above in Dover on Saturday evening (8 October 2011).
The two men from Dover, aged 28 and 31, were arrested this afternoon (Tuesday 11 October 2011) and are currently in custody being questioned. The boy was assaulted as he waited for a friend outside a shop in Worthington Street at about 9.45pm.
Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information about an altercation outside the shop to contact Kent Police on 01622 690690.
Sadly the boy remains critically ill in Kings College Hospital in London.
