Time for something light hearted but important to me as any lady will understand.
My eldest grandson is getting married tomorrow afternoon in the Discovery Centre should I wear the planned jacket or will it be my boring old bright red winter coat that will clash horribly with my dress. We all planned for a nice normal Spring day not this Arctic blast that seems never ending.
I have no idea how warm it will be in there as I have never attended a wedding there but understand the area used is somewhere near the theatre so I hope the lift is working.

Wear the coat with a scarf that would bridge the gap between red and '?', stay warm - you know that makes sense.

Jan, wear your jacket and drape your coat round your shouders, then if you feel cold you can just slip it on. I am reliably informed that clashing colours are " tres chic" and bang on trend, so GO GIRL!!!
Have a lovely day.

Hi Jan, hope all goes well!
The thearte is indeed where the Kent Registration Service conduct their weddings, it has heating so it should be warm! From when i worked there many years ago, the lift used to be temperamental, and there is a few steps with no lift inside the thearte, the library CSO's should be more than willing to help though if there are any problems.

Thanks for the replies, I hope the lift is having a non-temperamental day I do not fancy dragging myself up all those stairs.
The females of the two families have been busy cooking for the reception and evening bash, being old and decrepit I only had to make four 10" pork pies (that have yet to be portioned) and the cheese dip so got let off lightly, thank goodness.

If you wanted to avoid the steps, it is a flat entrance straight into the thearte from York street entrance :)

Tom, what is too silly I do not understand?
Charlotte, thank you that information is much appreciated as I am not the only one who has problems with flights of stairs.

I made a 'silly' remark, I left it up for a minute or so, then I edited it out. Yes, I should have made this plain. :)

Jan, Tom took the phrase '10 inch pork' out of context, and made a jocular but inappropriate post which he later removed. Best to spare his blushes and draw a veil over the whole episode.

Jan wear your new jacket and if it's chilly can you layer something under your dress like a thin t shirt for extra warmth? Have a lovely day what ever you decide to wear.

Vest t-shirt already washed and ironed, am keeping fingers crossed that the expected sun makes an appearance rather than the depressing wet stuff forecast for the late morning.

Quite a nice day down here Jeane - sun-wise, but still pretty cold.
Hope it's a happy day Jan.

After the recent Arctic style weather it was almost like summer so jacket it was.
I have never seen my grandson so nervous especially as the bride was about 10 minutes late but all went as smoothly as can be and my new gandaughter-in-law looked absolutely stunning. The whole ceremony had a very relaxed atmosphere and I would say to anyone thinking of getting married there go for it.
I had to leave the reception up at the Whitfield Hall before the end as they had a rather noisy disco and being an old codger can only put up with being deafened for a relatively short time, I hasten to add I was not the only aged one so did not feel quite so guilty.
