I had to read that twice to take it in, I didn't know Pauline but was sat next to Phil last evening at the community centre, we were chatting away he seemed in fine form. Saw him around most days and he has had good and bad days since the surgery he underwent a while back.
Sincerest condolences to his wife Jo.

Oh, how so very sad.
I must confess that I didn't know Pauline but I had only emailed Joan - Phils lovey wife - just 48 hours ago - we had been aquainted once more via this group several months ago and I was so looking forward to the three of us enjoying a chat together about past times.
Phils death must have been so sudden, my thoughts go out to Joan, a friend so dear that words cannot express.
RIP Pauline and Phill.
This world of ours is a poorer place for your passing.
God Bless
Ian

I first met Phil about 10 years ago up at the castle when the "Siege of 1215" exhibition was on, I was the only one on that particular tour so we got talking and he was clearly very knowledgeable about Hubert De Burgh who is largely unknown outside of Dover other than by history buffs. He was in the process of writing a book on the man, I don't know if it ever got published.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Phil, it is only days ago that he was showing me the photos of his latest project, a model of a 1st. WW tank. we usually had a drink in the 8 Bells once a week and I loved his conversation. I have got one of his pictorial calendars in front of me as I type. Sincere condolences to Jo.
I didn't know Pauline. Condolences to both families

So sorry to hear this, he was a really good guy.
I didn't know Pauine either, but it is sad when people pass away.

Such a shock - I had known Phil for many years through a shared interest in photography, and both of my daughters worked with him at the castle during their student years.
And although I only met Pauline briefly fairly recently she was a great character that everyone warmed to instantly.
RIP both.

We were all very sorry to hear this news from Peter yesterday in the top post about the deaths mentioned.
I only met Phil the one time , this was relatively recently over at the Mash Tun where he was relaxing with his wife. We had an amiable chat for a while and a very nice chap he was. So all quite shocked to hear the news.
Condolences to his wife Jo.
Condolences too to the family of Pauline. Sad times.

Very sad news, I've known Phil for a few years now and as Alec said above I also saw him in the 8 Bells, he was really excited about his WW1 tank project and was showing me photos of the project with great enthusiasm.
A very nice and informed chap, a sad loss, my Prayers go out to his wife Jo.
Unfortunately I didn't know Pauline, Condolences to Family and Friends.
