Ah Paul! No, of-course I wasn't suggesting £50 per day!
The idea is that of a port toll of £50 per truck, let's say per loaded truck then. It doesn't matter how many days the vehicle is transiting on the road.
That's my original proposal to the Department for Transport in my representation.
Of that £50, 30% would be for KCC, 30% for the Treasury, 30% for DDC and 10% for DTC.
The same would apply for the Channel Tunnel, but with the toll revenue being distributed among the Treasury and Shepway's councils and KKC, and the same for all British ports.
There would always be a percentage for the local town/city and district councils, for the county council and for the national money-pot in London.
So in our case of Dover (Port of Dover) and Shepway (Channel Tunnel), KCC would be getting 30% of each £50, which is £15.
As you could see, DDC and DTC wouldn't need any government grants from the Treasury for the annual budget, as we'd be financially self-sufficient, same goes for Folkestone and Shepway.
But of-course the toll is paid on entry-exit through the port, once only, and not for each day they're circulating in Britain. Even only for loaded trucks, if must be.
