18:5839094Anything but the title actually! To avoid roadkill there's a plan to put in a cycle route from Buckland Mill into town. Details
from KCC here:-
http://www.kent.gov.uk/roads_and_transport/using_the_road/current_consultations/river_dour_cycle_route.aspx
Full maps therein + a form to reply. Meanwhile your comments here??
i.e. Keith will claim we should cycle on the left, Vic will be all over the road and Barry (posh - for dover) will send his driver down to have a look at it........

19:0339095Bob have made your link LIVe there for you. Just to let you know...see the URL box amongst the smilies, you can make any link LIVE using that. Click on URL and type in between the two boxes.
I see the funding is already secured for that idea so we wont have to endure cutbacks anywhere else. Nice idea to have a path for cycling along the Dour...very good idea for holidaymakers or those wishing to spend a few days in Dover.

21:3439115Excellent idea,Dover Town Council asked me for my input, and as it goes down the back of my house and gets me off Buckland Ave/Barton Road/Frith Road where cars seem to forget it is not Brands Hatch, brilliant.

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

08:3639130melissa,i am a great believer of chaining woman to the kitchen equipment,ie cooking washing up and housework.

13:5139143This sounds like the sort of stupid idea Canterbury CC are good at when it comes to being PC and they end up making traffic conditions worse for the majority users.
Maybe we should consider creating a dog walking lane so that all the poo can be contained in one narrow strip of road? In fact, while we're at it, why not remove some of the unused pavements of our town and turn those over to the invalid carts that folks zoom around in now?
What other great ideas can members come up with for creating traffic congestion in the name of beign PC for the minorities?

19:0239154could not agree less with you sid, sounds like everyone benefits, cyclists are safer, the less people use their car means that motorists that need them can get somewhere quicker and pedestrians are less likely to get run over on the pavements.
less pollution too.
where does the political correctness come in?

be sensible, if you chained a woman to the sink, how could she reach a steam iron?
you have not thought of that, had you?
no doubt bern will be on later to give her viewpoint.

19:3839162Howard old fruit, the numbers switching from car to bike will be countable on one hand that's missing a number of digits.
The Park & Ride in Canterbury is an excellent service (always use it when goign there), but, there are at least two car parks in the cetnre of the city and bus lane in absolutely the wrong place. Despite thousands using the P&R though, the city is ioften gridlocked, proving folks won't easily switch from using their cars. But, why hasn't Dover attempted to introduce a P&R scheme? I suspect the answer is parking revenues.
The PC element is politicians and the media being anti-motorist; it now seems the UK has decided to attack and tax the driver now that smokers are getting less by the day either through giving up or snuffing it and alost anything which makes life harder for the vehicle user is welcomed.
Maybe one day the silent majoirty will speak up; I live in hope!

22:4039181Maybe harder for the motorist Sid, but the lorry driver is doing okay, as freight on rail has still not recovered from those immigrant`s a few years back. WHY HAS THAT LOST RAIL FREIGHT NOT RETURNED TO RAIL?????????? Rail is so clean and efficient, but it just doesn`t make sense when you see operation stack, as to why you have expensive empty freight yards in this country, and lorry upon lorry clogging the road system. The only conclusion you can come to is corruption or incompetance, in high places!!!!!!!!! I will not vote for any of them!
