after a long period of time the benches have finally returned to pencester road.
thanks susan.
you now have a place in the heart of all dovorians, sadly it leaves a much larger space on your patio.
incidentally when will you return the rest?
thanking you in advance.

Soz paulb
When im in town i will llook out for the benches, I do wonder if our friends who most dislike who usually use pencester will use these benches making them unavailable for families and such like.
With the amount of traffic using pencester I Don't think i would want to sit on a bench there.
nice pleasant seat is to the side of the bowling club/riverside centre.
nice benches there.
Sometimes it is poor mobility and not choice or pleasure that give rise to the need to sit. I am glad if the benches are back - they are needed.

Well said, PaulB. I get lost in the fog of one-line idiocy and illiterate non-sequiturs on this forum sometimes.
Er, thank God for that...I've crept onto three lines!

the benches are in a good position for those with limited mobility waiting for a bus.
further into the gardens would be no good for them.
well done again susan, and to your unknown accomplice that helped you move them back during the dead of night.

I cannot take the credit Howard but I did mention it to officers once or twice .The seats are ok if you have a long wait for a bus however i prefer to be nearer to the bus stop otherwise you may not get a seat .No pun intended .I can see people can rest there if they are shopping in that area ,

Ian Dimmock has asked me to post the following which is in reply to his Freedom of Information request.

Jan can you copy and pasted the answer which say's "The Chairman of Dover District Council is either mistaken in her assertion or lying. On no occasion has the Chairman of Dover District Council engaged in a discussion in any medium with the Town Clerk with regard to the memorial benches." on the Dover Forum please.

that doesn't surprise me, the town clerk is renowned for only taking calls that she wishes too.
I thought the questionnaire put out by ddc over the benches was quite amusing, only 28 responses.

Blimey this is an old old thread...I suspect the statement would need to be made on one of the more up to date ones.

Paul, it was the one at the top of the search list using the word benches and I hoped people would realise it was about the missing memorial benches outside the old library.
