Hardly surprising, even more surprising that 12 nice looking newish houses are left to rot with the demand high for accommodation.

These are the houses that has just been allocated an EU grant [I believe] to create a dementia sheltered environment styled on Dutch model.

Dementia housing was certainly the plan, though I think it a very poor choice with pocket handkerchief gardens and at the end of a street full of young families.
The housing association were supposed to have resecured all of these properties and carrying out regular security patrols.
The gardens are still full of old furniture, suitcases, mattresses etc. So a ready source of fuel for those of the arsonist persuasion!

With so many needing a decent place to live it is obscene that these houses are empty, they moved people out of them then leave them to get vandalised.

Going by very vague memory I thought that after the residents were evicted the NHS took over in order to house their staff working at the new hospital.

The NHS owned and still do I believe, they terminated the lease with riverside housing association so they could "explore options for the site" was their quote, still talk of a dementia village I believe.

This is the site that supposedly has an EU grant to convert into a dementia community. KCC & EK Hospitals were in the frame to deliver this. Anybody know of progress on moving this on.

Now now Paul you know as we we all do that East Kent takes a back seat at KCC, when Pat Sherratt asked the question of where the money had gone from the sale of the old Buckland hospital he was told that it would benefit Kent council tax payers. Loosely translated Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells etc would benefit.

These houses are a shining example of NHS inefficiency, empty vandalised houses that will probably cost a fortune to repair instead of providing an income, even if in the grand scheme of things that amount is small.
I expect this sort of thing is happening all over the country no wonder the various health authorities are in the red.

That's all right then. They probably won't notice!

Received £2 000 000 from Europe earlier this year they were asking for 60% of price and inquiring of municipal charities and DHB regarding remaining funding. Have not found anything more recent than February.

Yes Sue agree at board of directors meeting June I think last year that they would approach both munciple and DHB as potential sources of additional funding.
