I'm trying to do 12 days of RACK - Random acts of Christmas kindness i.e. helping someone carry their shopping, paying for their coffee without them knowing, spending time chatting to a lonely person. Give it a go, it's addictive!

'Random Acts of Christmas Kindness' sounds better than just putting coins in a collecting box!

I try to do it all the year round. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Like a dog or a pub, it's not just for Christmas.

you are a saintly person mr g and your acts deserving of public awareness, perhaps a television programme where you help needy people?

I held a door open for a bloke the other day at the post office in Whitfield. He barged through and almost knocked Mrs G off her feet. Sarcastically, I said 'Thank you' and he turned round, smiled and said 'You're welcome'!

I also try to do it all year round but admit I could do more. I've seen a lot of people down on their luck lately and coming up to Christmas it just reminded me to make more of an effort.

lifted this from alan taylor's facebook page.
the dog is a stray that found a warm place to sleep recently in a church hall, the following morning a member of the congregation came upon the scene and rescued the canine.

it is an excellent thread that jeane started peter, post 3 from kath sums things up perfectly for me.
easy to just assuage our consciences by throwing a few bob around, taking a bit of time to be kind or listen to others is more important.
our local food banks will be doing their bit and as we know the baptist church is dong christmas lunch for anyone that comes along, no doubt there are other unsung things going on in dover.

That picture bought a tear to my eye the dog looks so like the much missed last dog we owned.
I like to think most of us try to do a good deed every day, today mine was not shouting at the lovely but rather overweight dog from next door who regularly trots up the drive and eats the stale bread I have just put out for the birds.

That little dog looks just like my Bella, ( I put a picture on one of the Autumn threads). Maybe we could start a campaign to make Jeanes rules apply to drivers!!

Indeed Lesley - Many is the time I have wanted to say to drivers, please make someone's day and turn your indicators on, they are not optional extras!

That was on tv yesterday, the story proves there are some very caring young people out there and nice stories like this deserve more publicity .
I wonder if the supermarket were happy being presented with all those coupons in one go.

the young have always been slated by successive generations but i find that most have the same or even better manners than us older ones.
the problem is that vandalism is usually the preserve of a tiny minority of "yoofs" so it reflects badly on the vast majority of young people.
as a reference point most schools broke up for the holiday at mid-day and when i passed the tram shelter at 2. 30 pm all panes were still intact.

Give them time, maybe we need more wet weather to keep the vandals at home..
