22:0980200This is a question for all you culinary experts out there:
Do you have any recipes (other than German Baked Cheescake) for Quark?
I find myself with 3 tubs of it (don't ask - long story) and want to use it, as I hate throwing food away, but other than adding honey and dried fruit to it or mixing it with mayo as a salad dressing I am struggling.

23:3280223Bring a tub round and we will experiment with it. I am sure I can use it somehow and give you a few ideas.

10:5580251I am sure I have some recipes tucked away - I'll have a rummage and if I find them I will email you Ross. I know my Old Man made some lovely cheesecakes with quark a few years ago..............

20:3480564I too visited this thread thinking it would be about Deep Space Nine. Sadly not. I am wondering if the quark you are referring to would be better to make cream cheese icing with than the ordinary stuff, which I find goes very runny when beaten with icing sugar and lime or lemon juice.

21:3680588Diane it is a virtually fat free soft white cheese - so it might well be better for that

13:4781619I have been doing some testing. Try mixing it with some cold spinach curry (sag bhaji) and use it as a dip for poppadums. I have found it doesn't cook very well as it tends to split.
PG.

19:3281676I tried it rather than cream in a quiche the other day it worked very well took a bit of extra whisking to get it properly mixed with the eggs though

19:5081684A hint that might work in future Ross. I make a cooked rum and raisin cheese cake and have found that by pushing the cream cheese through a large mesh sieve it blends in a lot easier.

10:4481735Has anyone made a curd cheesecake? My grandma used to make them regularly, Lincolnshire Curd Cheesecakes, with raisins, cooked in a pastry base, absolutely delicious. I have also made cheesecake with cottage cheese, it works quite well but nowhere near as good as the Curd Cheese. The best cheesecakes by far are the cooked ones.
Anyone know where I can buy rennett? to make the curd cheese.

18:4481785I like making carrot cake, but find it hard to make a proper cream cheese filling. As I said above, when you beat it with icing sugar it just goes like a very runny icing, and not like the thick filling you get in bought cakes. I haven't made a curd cheesecake, but by chance on Genes Reunited, came across an english person living in New York who does a deep fried cheesecake!!
