Bern as far as I can tell there is no welcome planned. Once again I seem to be answering unofficially for officialdom but neither the Mayor or the Deputy Mayor have it on their list for the simple reason I would guess is that they know nothing about it.

Ive seen over the years various things happen on the seafront re channel crossings and so on and usually the newspapers are tipped off and they usually will get there if there is something newsworthy, and even occasionally the TV crews. They might be the only people knowing about this as nobody tips off lowly websites!...and the news media like to keep it to themselves as they might be on a scoop.

One of the bigggest non media/public representative disasters ever was when a huge navy vessel came into the harbour and lots of veterans with amputations and so on came ashore on landing craft. Very spectacular but they were met by nobody at all as I remember...only a hundred or so people were on the beach to see them and the people who live on the seafront saw it all. I got pictures as did our favourite roving guy Phil Eyden who happened to be there. But that was a bit of a Dover PR bummer as the event was so huge.

But usually its just the media who get to these things judging by past experiences.....but you never know, somebody somewhere might have something planned.
