The deficit plan depended on economic growth,we have not had economic growth for two years, today economic growth is
minus 0.2% ......
The Budget was a disaster,90% of deficit cuts are yet to take effect, all ministers are ordered to find a further £ 16 billion.
The deficit plan `A` shoved everything in reverse/extra costs for unemployment etc, etc. It was another ill-conceived policy.

LOL - only Reg and others who are more interested in political point scoring than real life can think that you can keep on deficit spending year on year without consequences.
I bet you do not do that with your own credit card.
Back to real life - see my blog comments for some proper analysis.

No Keith -read the blog. The solution to the problems are there even though you do not like them. More of the same, more spending on the national credit card and more debt will not solve the problems of the economy and more than that, it will make it worse - shove up interest rates and send the economy into a nose-dive requiring even higher cuts eventually.

And, Keith - what is the alternative, destroy more jobs through bankrupting the economy by increasing the deficit until investors higher interest rates and eventually will no longer buy UK bonds? Imagine how much bigger the cuts would need to be - you cannot go on binge borrowing more and more forever an end must come and it always has a terrible hangover.
That is the alternative ton dealing with the problems. As I said - read my blog.

the one thing that reg and barry agree on is that the cuts so far a just a fraction of what is to come.
every household in the country is suffering due to energy and fuel prices being exhorbitant, others are losing tax credits and some are losing benefits.
any good news that i may have missed?

Read the blog Howard - there are some bright spots.
Yes, the 'cuts' so called, have hardly hit yet and that is part of the problem, that and the fact that the planned cuts are not deep or quick enough.

Keith - I live and breathe economic matters daily, using many sources. so yes, I do see a lot more economic news than you. What is reported on the tv is just the headline stuff and does not allow the full picture get in the way of a good story.
