I cannot see it on the websites of DTC or DDC and there is no mention on either of our local media sites so they won't attract more people to the Town Hall to come up with brilliant ideas on how to attract more people to Dover.

I too know absolutely nothing of this event. Town Clerk and Tourist Information at Deal also know nothing.
Grateful for ANY links to it. (Or are spoof meeting a way of 'attracting more people to Dover'?

This reminds me of a few years ago when the H.A. held a public meeting in the town hall entitled "The Future of Buckland Hospital". The only notice was a small ad in "Health News" (whatever happened to that) and a flip chart outside the town hall on the day. The flip chart had the words "meeting today" written in biro, not visible from the pavement.
I phoned the League of Friends, who equally didn't know about it to get enough people to go along.
I gave up banging my head against a brick wall.

I saw you walk pass Keith Sansum, but you did not come in.
It was given out in the Town to local businesses etc.
So spoof to you.
The way it is perceived, you would be hesitant to give out any information at all.

If you saw Keith walking past why did you not call him over introduce yourself and tell him that the meeting was on?

Oh dear.
This is turning into an inquisition
I was talking to some people., didn't think it was of any importance. Keith Sansum was just walking past.
No wonder Dover is in a mess.

I thought the original post was inviting the public to attend?
If the lady I saw after I had already entered the town hall to find it was closed was Christina she left directly after me so seems it was some kind of private meeting, or not one at all.
I left 1510

I thinks it's good that local businesses were invited to express their views and ideas of how to generate interest in the town. Christine, how did the meeting go? Did many people attend (despite the lack of publicity), any good ideas come out of it and any follow up meetings planned?

I fear that we will never know Sue, it will remain a mystery for future generations to solve similarly to the existence or not of a Yeti, how long is a piece of string and how on earth did Noel Edmonds ever get on the telly.
Maybe the Town hall was sucked into the "Bermuda Triangle" earlier and released when everyone had gone home?

"Local businesses etc", I am basing my comments on them actually knowing this was on.
I would have thought that most of our local businesses being small would be unlikely to attend as they would be busy working.
Those who might be large enough to employ several people would be unlikely to be interested in anything to do with tourism.

I understand invites went out to local business (retail, hopitality - cafes, bars etc, hotel/boarding houses etc.) before Christmas.

I have taken a deep breath before adding additional information regarding this thread.
Under the forum guidelines which Chris Tuthill has carefully added for guidance, I do not, and I repeat do not want a load of abuse and sarcasm as presented in #10 #13 and #16.
#14 by PaulM and #18 Ross Miller were the only constructive comments appertaining to this. etc.
I put the thread up in good faith, and at the time the meeting was to take place as said.
However, the take-up was low, around 10 people to go. The venue was changed to the Dover Town Council offices. I was in the Town Hall entrance to tell anyone arriving, to go to the Town Council instead. This is where I saw Keith Sansum, quite by chance, walking past. Sorry, he did not come in, because he would have been told of the change of circumstances.
It is as simple as that. Things change, this was not a planned plot, not a devious act....just life.
This forum is, or should be, an unbiased open place to illustrate, anything for the good of Dover etc.
If mistakes or changes happen - a bit of tolerance would not go amiss.
