  It is this total lack of sentencing right across the board which has lead directly to the riots for example. There is no threat to your wellbeing for wrongdoing. Fortunately the riots appear to have changed all that and now we are seeing some sentences to match the crime. Some deterrent to cause a pause before serious criminal behaviour. I bet some of the rioters are somewhat sorry now.
  
  However there has been some criticism of the sentencing..but why?
  
  Ken Clarke, in an effort to save money, was endeavouring to keep yet more people out of clink..but his policies are in shreds now, as due to popular demand the opposite is happening. Expect to see him move in a reshuffle.
