  I think there are a number of observations here;
  
  1; THE ONE WAY SYSTEM
  This was discussed even in my time as a cllr, and no clear result as to whether
  or not this should go ahead, some prnbably 15/20 years ago a plan was put
  forward and probably would have gone a long way to solving some of the issues
  but sadly when the public consultation part took place all the anti the proposals
  turned up, so the scheme never got off the ground.
  
  Of course ever seen there have been lots of discussions on differing schemes
  including a one way system, but one of tho
  
  many issues is the clarendons
  is an area of where people move away, so those making decisions are not
  there when the scheme happens.
  
  So should there be a one way in clardon place/street?
  well, no agency wants to be the one to inplement the scheme, because public
  opinion is so divided.
  As roger says its likely to be a race track should a one way come into being
  as there would be nothing to stop them.
  some locals are also confused over this proposaed one way thinking it will
  also clear the roads of cars, it won't that is a completely different issue.
  
  The clarendon and westbury community assoc recently discussed the one
  way system and were not convinced it had big support for such a scheme
  but would welcome a flood of letters/e mails to say otherwise.
  
  
  The monies(purely for info) was put forward by DDC and would be long
  gone now, but i'm sure with KCC could re open it all, but it might be better
  to find out if locals actually want such a scheme.
  
  
  As i'm no longer active and sadly working i cant attend the meeting so
  would welcome thoughts on what the grant was for and put my view via
  e mail if so wished
