opens tomorrow , in the old tesco home and ware shop
i prefer the 99p shop myself
in with a pound out with a penny as they say
or is it, look after the pounds and the pennies will look after themselves
Yes Mel, the new Poundland is a very welcome shop in a prime position. I too popped in and was very impressed with the range of goods they're selling.
Mr Matcham - I think you owe Jacqui an apology, you told her she was wrong about the big opening tomorrow, when she was right first time. Well done Jacqui

Thank you for your comments Alf, but Vic never apologises so don't hold your breath.
As we all know it was yesterday, as I told you all and the star spent some time chatting to my daughter in law who works there and she said she was lovely. I'm sure this store will do well, just what Dover needed. All we need now is someone to open up the old Sainsburys/Premus shop - what a difference that would make.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

As I said the store open on Thursday ,it was a funday on Saturday,I have nothing more to add apart from it does look like a good store,I got some things for the garden only costing a pound each, seeds etc ,staff all very happy,so if it carrys on like that, it is a win,win for both the shop and the town.

That's a shame about Aladdins Cave, shut almost at the same time. I hope Pennies at the other end of Town - in Cannon Street, doesn't have to do the same.
With the purchasing power of Poundland being so much greater than a single outlet, I guess it would have been a struggle to survive and to quit while they were ahead, would be better than a slow painful bankruptcy.
A new shop opens and another one closes; hopefully a new shop selling something we don't have will open soon, we also need the old Sussex bookshop, in a prime location, to be taken over soon too.
