  Really enjoyed the Regatta. It was a very pleasant event in gorgeous sunshine and brought the whole town together. Saw many familiar faces I hadnt seen for a while. There was loads of singing and delightful bands and stalls to match every interest ..all manned by volunteers. Great fun for the kids too with the sailing and the climbing etc.

  Re Post 10..yes indeed it was of interest to me. Had a word with the chap that owned it. Quite a hell raising vehicle..a sort of cross between a dune buggy and a quad bike. it only cost the chap £4000...much less than my current piece of machinery. Jealous! lol

  Lots of great photos on here of the regatta. Several photos on the Mercury website with a promise of more in this week's paper. And the Dover Express website? A photo of a speedboat taking part in a regatta some years ago ...

  From the above pictures it looks like the vast majority of those there were enjoying themselves, sadly however good it was there will always be the complainers.

  It was a Community event .The young people were treated to wind surfing and dingy tasting sessions . .Rugby coaching ,Absailing etc.Various community units were giving demonstrations ie the Fire Service .Plenty of bands and singing groups .A day out without all that cost .

  But werent we very lucky with the weather. We had all four seasons in one day.
  The day started like this below...with just a hint of menacing cloud..
  

  

  
  but after a few dodgy rain-spitting early moments the weather picked up spectacularly and twas very warm along the seafront all day, until one hour after the tented jamboree moved away and then this...thunder lightning rain

  As Tom says there..it was a jolly 'olliday in Dover, but nearly wasnt. If this lot of weather had of arrived earlier.. well...
  so we had a great bit of luck for a hugely pleasant event.
