There is nothing in the current DHB constitution which would prevent the appointment of community directors. But it appears that DHB want to drag the process out ad infinitum so that everything community-related will have been set in stone before the appointments are made.

So the community directors will effectively be toothless by the time they start work. We are losing a lot of the pier some of the beach but thankfully the Chief Executive is looking after himself very well.

And DHB are exempt from FOI disclosure requirements which means everything goes on away from the inconvenient gaze of press and public.
