I was invited to attend but couldn't, so I can't offer anything on the meeting itself Howard.

Will post later on agenda. Dover Forum debates got a mention from Bob and he stated the most accurate posting was the one that said the Port was owned by DHB and any changes in its status would need to be approved by SoS for Transport. There is no uniformity in Trust Ports governance and Dover's appeared to be most restrictive.

"Bob stated the most accurate posting was the one that said the Port was owned by DHB"
That's what I posted quoting the letter from the DfT addressed to me.

Wrong wording, the D.H.B was put in place to run the port within the Royal Charter they do not own it, it is a Royal Port still.

Vic, the information that Dover Harbour Board owns and runs the Port comes from the Department for Transport.
So whose word is right here?
Martin, Dover needs money from the Port, unless there is another economic system where money is not needed.

Howard, I could have told MP Charlie Elphicke before November 2010 that DHB owns the Port, and that it could not be purchased from the Government.
Charlie MP is a lawyer of Law, if I'm not mistaken, but certainly blundered there!

Doubt very much that DHB would say the money is not needed, there is a huge amount of work going on at the moment and their plans for the future are well documented.

At present the DHB own the port of Dover. But there are provisions in the Ports Act 1991 and the Public Bodies Act 2012 for it to be taken away from them and transferred to another body, either private or otherwise. So Dr Bob is telling the truth and nothing but the truth, but not the whole truth.

provisions peter yes, but the secretary of state alone will decide whether a transfer is a good idea.

Not alone, Howard, he will take advice and listen to those who lobby him.
