20:2868359This young magpie was attacked by another bird and landed in our garden. He's not looking too good but is now in a comfortable cage away from predators.

20:4068363He is sweet. I have another one who sort of adopted me. He was the runt of the flock (is that the right word?) Anyway, he used to come in the garden and sit under the table on the shelf part. I called him Scruffy, he had a bald head and I didn't think he would survive but I fattened him up with cheese every day which he loves and now his feathers have grown and he's.....well.... fat!

21:3868371They can sometimes attack other birds, but I must say this recent bunch of youngsters have been behaving well. I've seen doves, sparrows and the magpies in the garden at the same time and they have all been eating/drinking/bathing and not bothering each other.
I'd never have a pop at the lovely Sue

23:1068378Jeane,
You are quite correct when you refer to that bird as being the runt, trouble is I am not sure if it starts with a C, or an R??

08:5368410We looked after a female blackbird that fell out of the nest as a chick...be prepared for the long-term Jeane, our bird lived for 5years before passing-on.
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........

10:2368416Aww Buddy that's lovely. Yes I have adopted a few injured animals over the years and if this one needs to become a permenant resident i.e too sick to be released, it will live here.
Yes Barry W-S nature can be scary

11:2268424Oh I say thank you Jacqui.

It was taken in Orton Hall Peterborough where I was being chased by dragonflies and rocking the windswept look!
'Berry' as he is now called is currently residing in a cage in the conservatory. I was worried that he hadn't eaten since yesterday but he's just had a small piece of bread and a sliver of ham

13:2768457Berry died at 12:45. I'm sad that he's gone but at least he wasn't alone, I sat with him and stroked him. He will be buried in the garden later in the special corner we have.

14:2268463What a shame, I had real hopes as he had survived the night.

22:4668528So what causes would they be Jimmy? How to stop the total annihilation of the Labour Party and Union movement (hurrah!) perhaps? Sometimes you can be a complete ass. Don't knock other people's humanity, one day you will need some yourself you old grouse.
