  Contrary to what some might think I find some (not many) of the political threads interesting but not when we get the petty point scoring or the tit-for-tat bickering.
  
  By the time they get to post 30 I have usually stopped reading as they are past the interesting stage, unless I am really, really bored and have time to fill.

  Mel, having recently come back from work, an hour ago, my working clothes are in the washing machine. I've had my warm shower, sipped a mug of milky coffee, and have to go back to the work place where I forgot my mobile phone. But I have the key to get in
  
  When Gov. UK does something worthwhile, they get applause from me publicly, when not, a thorough haranguing. So I lurk about political threads too.
  All in all I'm a hard-working man with his nose just above the water financially.

  Most of the UKIP members abandoned the Forum, there had been quite a few.
  But as you know, I'm too independent to base my views and allegiance on a political party, and wouldn't dream of harassing people with non-stop party views.
  
  My ideas about a party in which I believe go on my blog.
  Wouldn't really know what to write about UKIP, the last by-election seems to say it all.
  We've got Millyband as No 2, The Conservative size 8 party, mini Lib, microscopic others.

  you weren't shot down paul, the idea was unworkable because everyone would differ on what had a political slant.

  It is not politics that irritate so much as the fact that so often it descends into personalities and petty point scoring especially when it's about local concerns. Instead of being constructive I have found that it reads just plain nasty. And this applies as well to some of the comments that get made about the police.
  I love Melissa's phrase "political pirhanas".
  If you do not know the local politicians personally the digs are incomprehensible and unnecessary.

  What I find really pertinent . Those who ONLY post on politics, have they no interest in what (for most people) is real life in or out of Dover.

  My point is have they no interest in anything other than what this MP or that MP did or did not do.
  
  You are interested in politics but also post on other subjects why do others on here not do the same.

  let me explain again jan;
  
  
  some people post on the 97% posts that do not contain politics and do not wish to post on political posts and thats fine.
  
  others post on the politics threads and choose not tio post on others
  
  
  
  to move this on, anyone can post on any thread.
  
  as has been seen politics does tend to generate interest.
  
  non politics posts dioesnt interest some posters
  
  
  its what the forum is all about.
  
  
  i wouldnt feel it wrong because some one posts on one subject and not another
  
  its choice
