Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.
Is that the chap Gordon Cowan....who worked for the Post Office?

Ah well. This would have been the 'local news' slot.
My local news concerned homelessness and featured one young man of Kent;Mr. Barnes. I can report that he seems well if determined to stay away from his home county.

yes it was the local slot, there is concern over the planned changes to business rates whereby all money collected locally will now be spent locally.
this lady was very concerned at the impact making the point that somewhere like ashford that was booming would be even more successful whilst east kent would suffer.
then we had our own red gordon pointing out that pfizer's were all but gone together with the large business rate they have been paying.
we then saw a collection of photos of empty properties in the thanet area and it did not need much thinking to see that the situation there could only get worse under the plans.
we then had the member for folkestone and hythe wittering on about there being other money available for run down areas but had nothing concrete on it.

Good news for Canterbury Maidstone, but not so good for coastal towns like Margate Dover
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

exactly john, there is no positive slant for the less well off towns.
we will be cut adrift.

The rich get richer the poor get poorer, now where have I heard that phrase before.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

This is where the whole contradiction comes in regards planning.
There are so many empty properties in Thanet, and the situation there is destined to get worse, with even more empty properties. As Howard says.
Meanwhile, Dover's growth status points project is supposed to go on, on condition that we get 6,500 more houses in Dover and Deal.
Does anyone here see a contradiction, or is it just me?
If DDC got Pfizer up and running at full capacity and we kept the present properties (accommodations) in the Dover and Thanet districts inhabited, that would just be holding on to otherwise lost territory.
Instead, they can't even manage that, not even in combined efforts with Thanet Council, but have dreams of building 6,500 more properties in the Dover District area.
So where are all these new people supposed to work, then? At Pfizers, or Tilmanstone Salads?
Somewhere DDC planning has lost the plot.

fair point alex but don't forget that growth point money is only forthcoming if the houses are built.
as regards jobs all a bit of a chicken and egg situation, companies cannot open if there are not enough potential staff nearby and also whitfield is ideal commuting country for canterbury with much lower house prices.
