  I think it is almost impossible to keep a lid on this sort of crime. Hopefully some offenders will be caught but with autumn coming and the inevitable darker evenings its a heaven sent opportunity for opportunistic crimes of this nature. See the item about the theft of the two garden lions in the Police message for example. How can you stop that...the answer is..with difficulty. Crime prevention is the best way where possible..precaution instead of the cure, as a doctor might say.
  
  These kind of crimes are up, burglaries are up as I remember from previous stats and all because of the recession..so they say anyway.
