earlier today i was approached by a chap that wanted me to sign a petition "say no to the bnp".
surely a petition is the strangest thing i have heard for some time.
when we vote we do exactly that.
i made two points
a) the bnp has very little support here.
b) most people were unaware that they were fielding a candidate, they are now though.

He asked me also this afternoon, a softly spoken man. Is there someone doing a petition for all the other parties? As you say Howard, a pointless petition.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

Took this last week Howard. I think it`s the BNP.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
Not many shaven heads and Doc Martin's if that is the BNP. Are you sure it isn't Vic giving away freebies!

that's right colin, he was very quietly spoken, clearly nervous about asking people to sign the petition.
maybe he thought it was pointless too.

There is also a facebook 'group' calling for a national "don't vote tory day" which could be considered as a petition against a single party.
The idea of a petion saying no to BNP does sound ridiculous, who would you send it to?
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

So UKIP and BNP are a party same as ours,I think you ought to write that again Vic,a bit clearer because it sounds as if you and the BNP are the same party.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
John, their views on the EU and immigration aren't that far apart.

not fair sid, there are a lot of other policies.
i listened to the bnp manifesto launch today and thought that they had lost the plot.
vics party is blue but with honesty.
UKIP isn't blue and will never be. Their policies are too right wing, and, as I said, on immigration and the EU they are a fag paper apart.
Of course there are other policies, but on those two items they are too close for comfort.

i disagree sid, most of the ukip policies are on blue barrys wish list.
off the top of my head, the starting point of paying income tax and the flat rate spring to mind immediately, getting rid of quangos such as regional devlopment agencies is another.
If that were so, thn what would be the point in voting for UKIP, Tories will vote blue!

Purely because they "feel" the Conservative party isn't listening - we must listen and so reduce the need for the minor parties, including UKIP and get the votes we need to form a majority government. A hung Parliament won't help anyone other than keep Gordon Brown in power - do people really want another five years of him ? God I hope not.
Roger
Roger, there will always be minority parties, so the Tories should treat them with the disdain they deserve. The major contenders, LibDems and Labour should be swatted like flies with a weighty manifesto filled with good policies to take the country forward.
What we are seeing however, verges on mud slinging and paranoia regarding the LibDems and virtually no assault on the totally useless 13 years of socialist lies, spin and broken promises. Strangely, with 13 years of practice in how to deal with Labour spin, the Tories still don't know how to deal with it effectively.
I am very disappointed with the Tories election campaign so far. At best it is insipid and uninspring, at worst, nothing more than slagging off the opposition. Very poor in my opinion.

as far as i can see non of the manifestos add up to anything much.hot air and double standerds spring to mind, with no one giving a straight answer.
Have you all read the BNP manifesto? It certainly started my day with a giggle. And then listening to Nick whatever (BNP Gruppenfurhrer) on the radio wading about in the incomprehensible blobs that pass for ideas and trying to explain the inexplicable was the icing on the cake. Trouble is, the soundbite items in the festo are designed to appeal to just the kind of poorly educated and politcally niaive voter who will believe what he appears to be saying. Thinking doesn't really come into it.
